Peru's Cerro Verde 2Q Net Income $136.8 Mln Vs $159.6 Mln

LIMA (Dow Jones)--Copper-mining company Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SAA (CVERDEC1.VL) posted second-quarter net income of $136.8 million, compared with $159.6 million in the same quarter a year earlier, due to a decline in sales.
The company said revenue totaled $375.7 million in the second quarter, compared with $408.5 million in the same quarter a year earlier.
Cerro Verde said that in the second quarter, it produced 166.2 million pounds of copper, compared with 169.3 million pounds in the same quarter the previous year.
The Cerro Verde mine is located in southern Peru.
Cerro Verde is majority controlled by Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. (FCX). Compania de Minas Buenaventura SAA (BVN, BUENAVC1.VL) and a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corp. (8053.TO, SSUMY) also have equity stakes in the company.
