Hillary Clinton: "Estados Unidos aplaude el progreso del Perú"

Secretaria de Estado de EE.UU. se reunió con el presidente Alan García de cuya gestión destacó logros como la reducción de la pobreza y la generación de empleo

Aunque estaba previsto que respondiera dos preguntas de la prensa, la secretaria de Estado de EE.UU., Hillary Clinton, se retiró de Palacio de Gobierno sin dar declaraciones. ¿La razón? Estaba contra el reloj y debía sumarse a la Asamblea de la OEA que arrancó en la sede del Museo de la Nación.

“Hablamos tanto que nos excedimos del tiempo asignado, de hecho hay tanto de qué conversar, hay tanto que importa a ambos países”, comentó Clinton a los periodistas, a la vez que reveló que lo mismo ocurrió durante la visita de García a la Casa Blanca.

Clinton sí se dio tiempo para agradecer la hospitalidad del mandatario, para halagar la belleza arquitectónica de la Casa de Pizarro, y para reconocer algunos logros de este gobierno. “Estados Unidos aplaude el progreso del Perú en materia de inclusión económica, reducción de la pobreza y el aumento de oportunidades para el pueblo peruano”, dijo.

También mencionó preocupaciones en común como la protección del medio ambiente y la seguridad de ambos pueblos, “en el hogar, en las calles, contra el narcotráfico”.

Además agradeció el apoyo del Gobierno Peruano a la postura de EE.UU. frente a Corea del Norte.

“Aunque este es mi primer viaje (al Perú) no será el último”. Agregó que en futuras visitas espera seguir siendo testigo del progreso en temas como educación y salud en favor de la niñez, y ayuda económica para las pequeñas empresas.

MAPLE ANNOUNCES CONFIRMATION OF PLACING OF ORDINARY SHARES RAISING AGGREGATE GROSS PROCEEDS OF APPROXIMATELY £19 MILLION



Maple Energy plc (AIM: MPLE; LIMA: MPLE), an integrated energy company with assets in Peru, is pleased to announce that further to its announcement of 4 June 2010 it has received commitments in respect of 43,075,000 ordinary shares at 44p per ordinary share in a private placement to investors (the "Placing") for aggregate gross proceeds of approximately £19 million (US$28 million)*. The admission to trading of the shares is expected to take place on or about 9 June 2010.



Maple intends to use the net proceeds from the Placing to fund a portion of its remaining equity contribution requirement in connection with the Company's Ethanol Project.



Mirabaud Securities LLP and Jefferies International Limited acted as joint-bookrunners to the Placing.



*Exchange rate used: US$1 = £0.6820



Rex W. Canon, Chief Executive Officer, President and Executive Director, commented,

"This transaction represents a significant milestone for the Company as this placing, together with the previously announced private equity investment, will enable us to satisfy our equity contribution requirement for the Ethanol Project. With these funding requirements behind us, we will eagerly and aggressively pursue completion of the Ethanol Project and look forward to it entering commercial operations in the middle of 2011."
