4:30 a.m. ET: France sells bonds.
4:30 a.m.: Spain sells bonds.
8:30 a.m.: Weekly jobless claims. Economists think claims fell back to 385,000 from a surprisingly high 399,000 the week before.
8:30 a.m.: CPI for December. Economists think CPI rose 0.1% after being unchanged in November. Excluding food and energy, they think “core” CPI rose 0.1%, following a 0.2% gain in November.
8:30 a.m.: Housing starts data for December. Economists think starts slowed to a 676,000-unit annualized pace, from a 685,000-unit pace in November.
10:00 a.m.: Philadelphia Fed index for January. Economists think this jumped to 11 from 6.8 in December.
